General Backpacking Itinerary

Day 1
Your trip will begin at the Hikeu Adventure Guides base camp located in Fairfax. We’ll meet as a group at 10:00 AM. After introductions, we’ll go over gear, have a safety talk and general orientation and review medical information. Next, we’ll be shuttled as a group to a Long Trail trailhead to begin our hike. We plan to backpack only a few miles this first day to a shelter or camping spot along the Long Trail. Depending on our group size and the circumstances, you may be able to choose to sleep in the shelter or set up your tent. As you get settled in, your guide will prepare a backcountry dinner. Meals Provided: Lunch, Dinner and snacks.

Mid-trip days
During the body of the trip we will continue further along the Long Trail. We may traverse narrow ridgelines, climb numerous mountain peaks, and rest at incredible view points. You can opt to hike alone in your own silence or with the group. Again we will stop either at a shelter or camping spot where we will set up our camp. Your guide will prepare dinner while you ponder the day or share stories with your fellow hikers. Mileage and elevation gain/loss will vary depending on the specific route selected. Meals provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks.

Mid-trip re-supply day for a 10-day trip
On our 10-day trip we will need to re-supply on Day 5. We will be greeted at a designated trailhead in the afternoon and shuttled to a nearby Inn or B&B. After hot showers and some time to rest, we will have dinner at a local eatery (not provided). The next morning we will have breakfast (provided), re-supply and re-pack and then be shuttled back to the Trail.

Final Day
Our final day on the Long Trail will come to an end at our designated trailhead where our transportation awaits to return us to the Hikeu base camp to complete our adventure. Please do not plan flights out of Burlington prior to 6 pm this evening; out of Montreal prior to 9pm; out of Manchester prior to 11pm. Breakfast, lunch and snacks provided.

About Our Itinerary
Although we do our very best to adhere to the route we discuss when you make your reservation, our final route is determined by the guides and based on the condition of the Trail, group shelter availability and other factors which may be beyond our control. Changes to the route may impact the number of miles that we hike each day. There are many suitable options that will allow us to complete a successful backpack trip on or around the Long Trail, and we may utilize any of those options. This trip is operated rain or shine.
